Engineering with Generative AI
Course coordinator and lecturer · RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau · DFKI DSA · 300+ students
Annual course led by Prof. Sebastian Vollmer, with support from AWS, on how generative AI and LLMs are reshaping engineering: foundations of GenAI and LLMs; hands-on projects such as sentiment-analysis tools, GPT-based character models and AI-driven applications; guest lectures and labs with Amazon Web Services; prompt engineering, LangChain, Dify and Neo4j; and a critical look at the societal impacts and risks of generative AI. Open to UniGR partner universities. I coordinate the course, prepare the assignments and give lectures and tutorials.

DSA Coding Workshop: AI-assisted development

Three-part hands-on workshop: automation with RPTU's LLM infrastructure, building a personal website with an AI IDE, and agentic engineering with CLI agents and reusable skills.

CSEN 501 Database Systems · CSEN 403 Concepts of Programming Languages
Teaching and research assistant · German University in Cairo, Faculty of Media Engineering and Technology
Database Systems covers the relational model, ER/EER design, relational database design and SQL. Concepts of Programming Languages compares paradigms, syntax, semantics, type systems and implementation methods. Fifteen tutorials a week across both courses, plus grading, material preparation and supervision of four bachelor theses.

Invited talk at the workshop “Empowering the Future: A Journey into AI and Data Science for Innovative Minds”, joined by participants of “Revolutionizing Software Development with AI”. An introduction to AI agents and how they work together in multi-agent systems: core concepts, common uses and main challenges. Part of a DFKI session with Dr. Sergey Redyuk, at the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Mervat AbuElkheir.

Summer school Language Models and Structured Knowledge in AI Sept 2024
Instructor (Track A, Large AI Models), with Gerrit Großmann · IDESSAI 2024, Inria–DFKI European Summer School on AI
Integrating LLMs with structured knowledge such as knowledge graphs to make their output more accurate and reliable, and extracting structured data from language models. Participants left with a simple working prototype that combines an LLM with a knowledge graph.
