    Engineering with Generative AI

Course coordinator and lecturer · RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau · DFKI DSA · 300+ students

Annual course led by Prof. Sebastian Vollmer, with support from AWS, on how generative AI and LLMs are reshaping engineering: foundations of GenAI and LLMs; hands-on projects such as sentiment-analysis tools, GPT-based character models and AI-driven applications; guest lectures and labs with Amazon Web Services; prompt engineering, LangChain, Dify and Neo4j; and a critical look at the societal impacts and risks of generative AI. Open to UniGR partner universities. I coordinate the course, prepare the assignments and give lectures and tutorials.

  1. Try Privacy Guardrail: keep personal data out of your AI chats

A free, open-source Chrome extension from our team at DFKI that catches personal data before you paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Please try it, rate it and tell us what breaks.

  2. Protecting LLM systems from prompt attacks

My article in Hakin9 Magazine's issue "LLM Mayhem – Hackers' New Anthem" on the main types of prompt attacks and how to defend against them at the model, prompt and system level.
